Beaches and Forests
The area of Nosara is renowned for its incredible beaches and lush tropical forests.
These habitats have been protected and carefully managed to ensure healthy survival of both of these environments with minimal impact on the resident wildlife.
The Beaches:
Playa Guiones:
By far the closest beach to the Green Ray Villas is Playa Guiones, a beautiful 7 km stretch of white sand.
This is known as one of THE spots for surfing in Costa Rica and consistently provides great waves for all surfers to enjoy.
The beach also boasts excellent shelling and at the south end, many warming sea pools can be found in which to bathe as the Ocean retreats.
Playa Pelada:
From the north end of Playa Guiones, you will
enter the shade of the trees which grow near
Playa Pelada. This Grotto-esque entrance leads to a
beautiful and secluded crescent shaped expanse of sand.
Playa Ostional:
Just north of Nosara, this world renowned beach is part of Nosara-Ostional Wildlife Refuge and is home to one of the largest nesting sites for the Olive Ridley Sea Turtle.
After a full moon, hundreds (sometimes thousands) of these turtles can be found jostling for nesting positions in the sand.
It is also possible to see giant Leatherback and the endangered Green Turtles here too.
Playa Garza:
A perfect, natural harbor, Playa Garza is a fishing village with a traditional feel.
Here you can arrange a small boat tour looking for Whales and Dolphins or a days fishing trip with one of the local companies.
The Forests:
The forests are home to a myriad of wildlife, ranging from Howler Monkeys and Ospreys to the smallest tropical birds and Iguanas. If you are fast, you might even catch sight of a Sloth.
Green Ray Villas are situated above the forest canopy, meaning that you can watch the Osprey soar around you and the Parrots flutter past, whilst at the same time keeping an eye on the Ocean to trying to spot passing whales and listening to the sound of the birds and monkeys in the trees.
